Message from the co-chairs of the BIPOC Members Meeting at ACCUTE 2023:
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are happy to invite you to the second annual BIPOC meeting of ACCUTE (Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English) taking place at York University’s Keele Campus on May 27th from 12 p.m – 1 p.m (ACE 007). A meeting agenda can be found in the ACCUTE Conference Program.
The BIPOC meeting at ACCUTE focuses on issues pertinent to the experiences and continued successes of BIPOC English Scholars in Canada. This year, we will specifically discuss ways of navigating the challenges that come with being a BIPOC English Academic as well as available resources. These are some of the lines of inquiry identified last year as important areas of interest to graduate students and emerging scholars.
The meeting is free and open to all ACCUTE members who identify as BIPOC. Members who attended last year were graduate students, emerging scholars, and early-career professors. We look forward to also seeing other BIPOC identifying people interested in English Studies in Canada.
See you at Congress 2023!!
— Chinelo Ezenwa (PhD, Western University) and Titi Aiyegbusi (PhD Candidate, University of Toronto)
