About the Position:
The School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies invites applications from qualified candidates for a one year term appointment in Canadian Studies at the rank of Instructor beginning July 1, 2020. The candidate will be expected to teach across a broad range of areas in Canadian Studies with expertise in critical race theory/studies, multiculturalism, immigration and diaspora in Canada; administrative responsibilities that support the School will also be required of the successful candidate.

About the Academic Unit:
Carleton University’s Canadian Studies program offers a four-year B.A. Honours, a four-year Combined Honours, a three-year B.A. General and a minor in Canadian Studies. These degrees expose students to courses in contemporary Canadian culture, identity, nationalism, heritage conservation, cultural politics, migration and diaspora studies in Canada, as well as Canada’s colonial history and settler colonialism today. This program builds on Carleton’s existing strengths in Canadian Studies and maximizes Carleton’s advantageous location in the National Capital Region. Qualifications include: a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Canadian Studies or a related field and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The principal duties of this position are classroom teaching; the successful candidate will teach courses at all levels of the undergraduate programs in Canadian Studies at Carleton University and will have the opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise.
