Position Summary
The Department of Liberal Studies invites applications for the position of Professor in the area of Arts and Humanities with a preference for expertise in the Arts and/or Aesthetics. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach interdisciplinary diploma- and degree-level courses. Experience in teaching relevant courses with a focus on and demonstrated ability in developing and delivering an interdisciplinary curriculum that is relevant to Humber’s student population, responsive to their pedagogical needs, and academically stimulating in approach are essential to this role. This candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in the classroom, the technical expertise to integrate new technologies into teaching practice, as well as the ability to work well with colleagues. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in curriculum development, committee work, departmental initiatives, and to participate in the larger college community. Teaching will be assigned at both the North and Lakeshore campuses, and may include the Orangeville campus.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a PhD (required) and have a minimum five years postsecondary teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and a strong commitment to teaching and learning. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. TESL training would be an asset.
