Job: Tenure-track position in Women’s and Gender Studies with a potential cross-listing in English (Mount Allison) (deadline: Mar. 20, 2017)

The Women’s and Gender Studies Program (WGST) at Mount Allison University invites applications for a tenure track appointment in Women’s and Gender Studies with an open research specialization, although candidates with expertise or interest in Indigenous studies are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also contribute to one other department/program in the Faculty of Arts, such as Canadian Studies, English, or History. A Ph.D. in WGST is the preferred qualification for this position. The candidate will be responsible for teaching the core WGST curriculum, with opportunities for the development of new courses expected in the future. Candidates must possess a vibrant research profile, as well as a strong commitment to and experience in teaching diverse undergraduate students in WGST.

The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2017, subject to budgetary approval. Applications must include:

  • a cover letter outlining research contributions, areas of teaching expertise, and ability to contribute to WGST and another Arts department/program;
  • a curriculum vitae;
  • sample syllabi for Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and Gender in Research and Theory that demonstrate engagement with diverse perspectives in WGST, including Indigenous perspectives;
  • a statement outlining teaching approach and philosophy;
  • three letters of reference sent directly to the search chair via email.
