ACCUTE conference

Important Info for ACCUTE and Congress 2016 Attendees

As you all know, Fort McMurray, Alberta, was recently devastated by a massive wildfire that forced the evacuation of the entire city and nearby communities.  Many of those who have been displaced are currently being hosted by Alberta universities, including our Congress host, the University of Calgary.  Today, the University published a notice on their website about these issues and how they will affect Congress attendees.  The notice reads, in part:

“The urgent need to house evacuees on the UCalgary campus has meant that some on-campus reservations for Congress attendees have been moved to local hotels. All Congress 2016 residence accommodation reservations will be honoured and all impacted attendees will be contacted personally by May 18 with new accommodation details, including hotel and location.” You can read the full notice here.

The ACCUTE office will be sending out an email to conference presenters with this information, as well, but please share. What you see at this link is all we currently know ourselves, but I know ACCUTE members will be happy to help the Fort Mac evacuees in any way we can.  And, on that note, I would like to remind everyone that the Canadian Red Cross is accepting donations to their Alberta Fires Appeal, and that all such donations will be matched by the Government of Canada.  If you would like to donate (or donate again), click here to go the Red Cross site.
