Job: Contemporary Literature (Algoma U; deadline 20 October 2014)

The Department of English at Algoma University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning January 1, 2015. The successful candidate must have completed a PhD, display a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarship, and possess teaching and research expertise in Contemporary (20th and 21st century) Literature. Teaching and/or research expertise in any of the following are an advantage: Canadian Literature, Children’s Literature, Creative and Expository Writing, Film Studies, and Indigenous Literature. Demonstrated ability to develop an independent research program and secure external research funding is an asset.

Interested candidates should forward, electronically, a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, two sample publications, two sample course syllabi, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation from academic references to Dr. Arthur Perlini, Academic Dean, at: deanapps@algomau.ca.  Applications will be accepted until October 20, 2014 or until the position is filled.
