Job: World Literature and Cultures – Assistant Professor, Royal Military College (Deadline: 29 Feb 2024)

The Department of English, Culture, and Communication at the Royal Military College, Kingston (RMC) invites applications for a continuing permanent position in world literatures and cultures. Candidates are encouraged to identify secondary areas of teaching and research interest and expertise. The rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

Candidates must have a PhD in English (or ABD), a strong record of research, and a demonstrated ability and interest in teaching at all undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will teach mandatory first- and second-year English courses in the core program as well as senior courses in world literatures while maintaining an active research record and contributing to the service needs of the department and the university.

The Department of English, Culture, and Communication is a small, productive, and collegial department with a strong record of research, award-winning teachers, and an international professional profile. The department fosters an intimate learning environment, and, to that end, class sizes in our core courses range from 25-35 students, and class sizes in our undergraduate seminar courses range from 5-15 students with an average class size of 8 students. In addition to its undergraduate programmes, the department contributes courses to the minor in Culture and Diversity and to the postgraduate War Studies programme.
