Athabasca University’s Department of Centre Humanities is currently recruiting for the position of Assistant Professor, English.

The Position:
The Centre for Humanities in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Athabasca University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, English, commencing September 3, 2024. Athabasca University is a fully accredited, comprehensive academic and research post-secondary institution with a commitment to facilitating open access to education. Qualifications:
- A PhD in English or Comparative Literature required.
- Broad knowledge of English literatures and an active or emerging research program of scholarship that critically addresses one or more of the following specific areas: postcolonial or diaspora studies; modern literary history (i.e., since circa 1800); and/or contemporary literatures in Canada.
- Evidence of scholarly output and research productivity and proof of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level are required.
- Experience in developing and/or teaching graduate courses is important; community-responsive research and teaching are considered assets.
- Familiarity with online systems and use of emerging technologies for course delivery are preferred.
- Experience teaching cultural studies is considered an asset.
All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada and will be verified upon hire.
