The Department of English in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Indigenous Literatures at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
We are seeking an outstanding teacher with a scholarly research background in Indigenous literatures. We are open to a broad range of possible areas of expertise related to the study of Indigenous literatures, such as Indigenous literatures in multiple genres and/or media, Indigenous research methodologies and knowledge traditions, or Indigenous cultures and histories. Lived experience with Indigenous communities and involvement in community-engaged scholarship will be considered assets. The successful candidate will teach senior-level courses in Indigenous literatures and introductory literature and/or writing courses, as well as develop special topic courses and seminars in Indigenous literatures. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. (or evidence of near completion) in a relevant area of expertise, present an ongoing research plan, demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education, and provide evidence of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level.
