Call for Applications: Editor of Papers of the Bibliographical Society of Canada (Deadline: 15 December 2022)

The Bibliographical Society of Canada (BSC/SbC) invites applications and expressions of interest for the position of editor of the Society’s online scholarly journal, Papers of the Bibliographical Society of Canada/Cahiers de la Société bibliographique du Canada. The Society and its online journal aim to promote the study of the history, description and transmission of texts in all media and formats, with a particular emphasis on Canada.

The editor-in-chief works collaboratively to produce one issue of the online journal per year. This work includes overseeing the initial review of submissions and the peer review process, as well as coordinating editing and editorial duties with the Journal Manager and Layout Editor. The Editor-in-Chief is also responsible for coordinating the work of the French and English book review editors. On the other hand, the editor-in-chief must represent the journal within its academic and professional community, and must undertake to promote the publication in order to solicit and identify proposals.

The editor must have prior experience in the field of bibliography or book history in the broad sense, as well as a record of publications and presentations. A good oral and written command of English and previous experience in the field of scholarly publishing are distinct assets. In addition, the Editor-in-Chief will be required to serve on the BSC/SbC Executive and Publications Committee, and will also be required to attend the Society’s semi-annual meetings in the spring and fall. The incumbent will receive a stipend of $1,000 per year (CAD), as well as free registration for the annual general meeting of the BSC/SbC.

Applicants are requested to submit an up-to-date resume and cover letter, along with the names and contact information of two references, to Chris Young, Chair of the Search Committee, at president@bsc-sbc.ca. The deadline for submitting applications is December 15, 2022.
