Job: Indigenous Literatures of Turtle Island – Assistant Professor, Brock University (Deadline: 30 November 2022)

The Department of English Language and Literature at Brock University invites applications for a probationary, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Indigenous Literatures of Turtle Island. Candidates must provide evidence of research and teaching excellence; however, non-traditional educational backgrounds as well as diverse methodological and theoretical approaches, academic publications, and creative works are welcome. Other teaching interests are welcome, including Creative Writing, decolonial interventions, oral storytelling, and engagements with Indigenous knowledge systems and languages. Candidates must self-identify as Indigenous – that is, First Nations (status, non-status, treaty, or non-treaty), Métis, Inuit, Alaskan Native, or Native American. The appointment begins July 1, 2023.

Applicants should have extensive Indigenous knowledge and experience, or a completed PhD in a related field, or, if ABD in a related field, have a defense date set. The successful candidate will have a standard 2-2 teaching load, and will be expected to teach at all levels, including first-year undergraduate and MA courses in keeping with the normal deployment rotation of the Department.
