The Université de Moncton is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English Literature (Limited term appointment – 11 months). The anticipated start date for this position is 1 August 2022.

This is a limited term appointment (LTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor. Duties begin 1 August 2022 until 30 June 2023. The English Department at the Université de Moncton makes up part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and its corps of more than 100 professors, numerous part-time instructors, and approximately 950 students. The English Department currently offers undergraduate programmes in literature and courses in linguistics and ESL/EFL, as well as a Masters in Comparative Canadian literature.  

Within the framework of university teaching, research, and service, applicants must demonstrate a passion and an ability for undergraduate teaching. Flexibility and versatility are necessary and expected in this position. The successful candidate will deliver a variety of courses in their field of specialization and connected areas. We are also looking for candidates who are willing to participate in the intellectual life of the University, working in collaboration with the other members of the English Department.

Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in English literature in hand and demonstrated experience in excellent teaching at the university level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses, both introductory and upper level, in one or more of the following areas: Modernism, Post-Modernism, British literature, American literature, and digital humanities.

Mastery of oral and written English and French is essential.
