Job: Writing Studies – Limited Term Assistant Professor, Trent University (Application Review Begins: 3 June 2022)

Trent University invites applications for a one-year limited-term appointment (LTA) in English Literature and Writing Studies or a related field in the Department of English Literature. The appointment will be at the Trent University Durham GTA campus in Oshawa, Ontario at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence August 1, 2022, subject to budgetary approval..

Candidates are expected to have a completed Ph.D. in literary studies by the time of the appointment (or close to it), an active research program, and demonstrated excellence in teaching, especially first-year writing courses and literary studies courses.

This is a teaching-intensive position. The successful candidate will teach three half-credit courses in the fall term, three half-credit courses in the winter term, and one in the summer (2023). Courses will be at all undergraduate levels and will range in size, include majors and non-majors, and may include teaching assistants. For those reasons, a successful applicant will be a purposeful, versatile, and flexible teacher.

The successful candidate’s course load will have WRIT 1001: Write in Time, WRIT 2002: Effective Communication, and a three literary studies courses already in our staffing plan.
