Job: Popular Literatures – Limited Term Assistant Professor, Trent University (Application Review Begins: 24 May 2022)

Trent University invites applications for a one-year (12-month) limited-term appointment (LTA) in Popular Literatures in the Department of English Literature. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence August 15, 2022. This position is located at Trent’s Peterborough Campus and is subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates are expected to have completed a Ph.D. (or be close to completion – ABD) in literary studies by the time of the appointment. The successful candidate will have an active research program in the area of Popular Literatures, and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.

This is a teaching-intensive position involving seven courses. The successful candidate will teach three half-credit courses in the fall term, three half-credit courses in the winter term, and one in the summer. Courses will be at all levels (including graduate) and will range in size, include majors and non-majors, and may include teaching assistants. For those reasons, a successful applicant will be a purposeful, versatile, and flexible teacher.

The successful candidate’s course load may include:

ENGL 1001: Truth, Lies, and Storytelling

ENGL 2707: Popular Fiction

ENGL 2709: Graphic Fiction

ENGL 4107: Making an Impression

ENGL 5007: Public Texts (a required course in our graduate program)
