The Department of English at the University of Winnipeg invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2020, subject to budgetary approval. Applicants should have, at minimum, a Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, or a related discipline, and a substantial creative writing publication portfolio. Priority will be given to candidates with a strong record of creative publication in more than one genre, teaching experience in creative writing, and a commitment to fostering a positive artistic community on campus. Publication or teaching experience in one or more of the following secondary disciplines would be an asset: Indigenous literatures and cultures; critical race theory; postcolonial and diasporic literatures; gender and sexuality studies; popular literatures and genres; young people’s texts and cultures; linguistics and stylistics; new media, digital media, and screen studies; and cultural studies. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in the Department’s undergraduate programs and may also have the opportunity to teach at the graduate level in the MA in Cultural Studies, which is housed in the English Department.
