The Department of English, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies invites applications for an Alternate Stream (teaching-focused) tenure-track position in First Year English at the rank of Assistant Lecturer, to commence July 1, 2019. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate courses.
A PhD in English or a related field (or near completion) with a substantial record of professional experience in First-Year English is required. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrate a secondary interest in Romantics and Victorian Literature. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching university-level courses and have a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success. Pedagogical innovation in such priority areas as experiential education, technology-enhanced learning and community-based learning would be preferred, as also experience with curriculum development and universal design. We particularly value experience in first-year writing course design, working with diverse student populations, and teaching multilingual writers. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service or potential to contribute to service in administration and committee work.
