Conference: Narratives of Resilience and Healing, 9-10 October, 2017, University of Salamanca, Spain

Narratives of Resilience and Healing, a conference organized by Dr. Ana Fraile Marcos, is being held October 9-10, 2017 at the University of Salamanca, Spain. Funded by Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Competitiveness, the conference brings together an international team of literary scholars from Canada, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK to assess from multidisciplinary perspectives and through the study of contemporary literature, film, videogames and other cultural products, the impact of notions of vulnerability, precariousness, resistance, resilience, healing, and sustainability on contemporary Western culture. Canadian-based presenters at this conference include: Daniel Coleman, Kit Dobson, Smaro Kamboureli, and Daniel Laforest, with keynote talks by Susie O’Brien. and Aritha van Herk. The conference also includes presentations by well-known Spanish scholars of Canadian literature including Pilar Cuder-Dominguez, Eva Darias-Beautell, Ana Fraile-Marcos, María Jesús Hernáez-Lerena, and Bélen Martín-Lucas.
