The Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Full Professor in Digital Humanities and Game Studies. This is a joint position between the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies and the graduate program in Humanities Computing.
We are seeking an innovative academic leader and exceptional scholar in digital humanities, game studies, interactive literature, and language studies and ideologies. Applicants must have a completed PhD in digital humanities, media studies, game studies, or related humanities discipline. Applicants should have a strong cultural orientation to their professional activities and be open to collaboration with other disciplines. The successful candidate will:
- be a senior scholar with a stellar international reputation and distinguished publishing record that includes multiple peer-reviewed, discipline-relevant books
- have a robust research agenda and a strong track record of securing external research grants
- have experience offering graduate and undergraduate courses in digital humanities; specifically in topics related to media and cultural studies, narrative studies, language ideologies, game studies, and interactive fiction
- be able to conduct teaching and research in a language in addition to English, including undergraduate language courses in another language
- have significant administrative experience building excellent teaching programs and supporting a broad range of university activities
In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, the successful candidate will supervise graduate students in both academic units at the masters and doctoral level on topics in the area of the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and conduct research in both English and an additional language. The normal teaching load is four courses per academic year.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications in accordance with the Faculty Agreement as per the negotiated salary scales.
