The Department of English at the University of Toronto, St George campus, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in the field of Canadian Literature. Research and teaching interests in all areas of the field will be considered. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2017.
Applicants must have earned a PhD in English or an appropriate field by the date of appointment or soon thereafter. The successful candidate must display evidence of excellence in both research and teaching. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrated via a strong statement of teaching philosophy, excellent teaching evaluations, strong endorsements from referees and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. Previous university teaching experience is preferred. Candidates must also provide strong evidence of research of an internationally competitive calibre, as evidenced by publications in leading journals in the field, presentations at significant conferences, a strong research dossier (to be submitted as part of the application) and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
