The Publishing Program at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor — commensurate with experience — commencing September 1, 2016.

We are seeking an individual with an established research and teaching record in *one or more of:* Canadian publishing history and policy, scholarly communications, the digital humanities, information science or media studies as it intersects with publishing. The preferred candidate will be engaged in interdisciplinary research and teaching in at least one of the following areas: Canadian and/or international publishing studies, public policy, history of publishing, history of the book, scholarly communications, media studies. We are looking for a scholar who can work closely with and augment our closely knit, interdisciplinary faculty.

The successful candidate will teach in SFU’s Master of Publishing program and Undergraduate Minor in Print & Digital Publishing, and also provide support to project courses. This position carries supervisory duties in the Master of Publishing Program as well as program and faculty service duties across both graduate and undergraduate operations. In addition, we are seeking a candidate who can assist in the leadership of the Canadian Institute for Studies in Publishing (CISP).

The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Publishing, Communications, English or a relevant area of the Humanities, and will have a well-established record of achievement in research, teaching, and service. A strong publication record and potential to attract research funding will be important.

The Publishing Program at SFU comprises a 16-month cohort-based graduate Master of Publishing program (MPub), a Undergraduate Minor in Print and Digital Publishing, a professional development workshop series, and the Canadian Institute for Studies in Publishing (CISP), which includes a working publishing operation, the CISP Press. Students experience a combination of academic and practical studio- and project-based courses.
