The Department of English Language and Literature at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the field of Indigenous Literature and Culture. Preference will be given to an appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants holding a higher rank may also be considered. In addition to holding a Ph.D., or in the case of a creative artist an MFA/MA, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of research and teaching effectiveness in a relevant discipline. They will have a strong background in Indigenous knowledge systems and methodologies, and they will also demonstrate a commitment to working with Indigenous communities. Lived experience will be considered an asset. It is expected that the successful candidate will establish a rigorous research or creative program in the field and contribute an appropriate level of service to the department, faculty, university, and community.
The Faculty of Arts particularly encourages applications from candidates who are able to contribute to the Indigenizationof curriculum and the University. The Faculty of Arts is also particularly interested in scholars with creative approaches to undergraduate and graduate education whose teaching in the Department can also contribute to its interdisciplinary programs.
