ACCUTE has a lot of news to share for Winter 2024, and it’s all right here in the latest edition of The Angle. One of the exciting initiatives planned by our BIPOC Caucus during last year’s conference launches this week: the first of what we hope will be many virtual BIPOC Coffee Hours. On Wednesday, February 7, 12 p.m EST, join George Elliott Clarke for a conversation with other BIPOC members from all stages of their careers. Click here to register.
Two CWC/ACCUTE webinars are upcoming in February and March. The first is Creative Humanities Approaches to Creative Writing & Publishing Research on Monday, February 12, 11:30 a.m. EST. The second is Poetic Witnessing: Exploring the Black Mediterranean on March 26. Click here to register for the February event.
Graduate students will also want to take note of the Sustainable Futures Writing Contest, which offers cash prizes for short story and poetry submissions related to the Congress 2024 theme. Click here for details and submissions guidelines. To light your creative spark, spend some time with the poetry in this issue by Heather Simeney MacLeod.
And of course, conference planning is well underway! CWC Coordinator Adam Dickinson and GSC President Marc Lynch bring you up to speed on the work happening within their caucuses leading up to Congress 2024.
We are so very pleased to announce our ACCUTE Keynote Speakers, Caroline Levine and Erín Moure, who will join us in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke along with our other co-sponsored Keynotes, Niigaan Sinclair and Sina Queyras. With these events and so much more, ACCUTE 2024 is shaping up to be an event you won’t want to miss.
Congress registration is now open — don’t wait to register and book your accommodation! Stay tuned for our conference program, to be released this March.
As always, please send comments, questions, or queries about future contributions to Erin Knight at info.accute@gmail.com. We can’t wait to hear from you.
