Department of English Faculty of Arts
The Department of English in the Faculty of Arts at Ryerson University in the city of Toronto on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Huron invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position, Open Rank, beginning July 1, 2018, subject to final budgetary approval. The area of specialization is Indigenous Studies.
All candidates with research and teaching expertise in Indigenous Studies will be considered, and we especially welcome applications from scholars with secondary specialization in one or more of the following areas: drama/performance studies; ecocriticism; new media and digital culture studies. Candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to Indigenous knowledges and methodologies, to developing curriculum that promotes Indigenous futurity, and will have a record of collaboration with Indigenous communities and organizations.

Responsibilities will include: teaching and supervising at the undergraduate and graduate levels; contributing to the undergraduate and graduate programs including taking a lead role in curriculum development/expansion as appropriate; establishing and maintaining a strong, independent, externally-funded research agenda; and participating in the academic life of the Department of English, the Faculty and the University.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in English or a related field (or will expect to do so by July 2018). Applicants should also demonstrate an ability to contribute to both our undergraduate and graduate programs, evidence of high-quality teaching, a strong research profile and scholarly record, as well as the capacity for collegial service. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to upholding the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly, research or creative activities.
