We are delighted to invite members of ACCUTE who identify as racialized/BIPOC to apply for a new ACCUTE prize designed to recognize and celebrate research and activities that demonstrate impactful engagement with BIPOC concerns and communities. The Research and Community Engagement Award is designed to provide members an opportunity to reflect on and articulate the value of their work involving racialized/BIPOC communities, and for ACCUTE to recognize and celebrate this work within and beyond our extensive research community. BIPOC is defined as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
HOW TO APPLY:
Submissions for the ACCUTE BIPOC Caucus’ Research and Community Engagement Award should include:
A statement of 500-750 words that describes and reflects on the member’s
research and engagement related to racialized/BIPOC issues and communities.
Research and engagement may include publications, presentations, service,
community engagement, journal editing, and any other initiatives or activities
considered relevant to this area.
A CV of no more than two (2) pages.
This Call is open to all ACCUTE members in good standing who identify as racialized/BIPOC within ACCUTE, including longstanding and newly registered members of ACCUTE. We especially encourage graduate students to take advantage of this call to share their research and engagement related to and within communities
broadly described as racialized/BIPOC.
Submissions should include the person’s name, email address, work/study designation, and institutional affiliation. The statement and CV should be combined and submitted as a single PDF document by email with the subject heading: ACCUTE BIPOC Caucus – Research and Community Engagement Award.

Each submission will go through a peer review process. Winning submissions will be announced at the Celebration of Research Awards ceremony during the opening reception of the 2025 ACCUTE Conference taking place between 30 May – 2 June 2025 at George Brown College (GBC) in Toronto as part of the annual Congress of the Federation of the Social Sciences and Humanities associations.
There will be five (5) monetary awards. A minimum of three awards will be designated for graduate student applicants. Winners will also be invited to submit their statements for publication on ACCUTE’s website and in The Angle.
