Ambrose University Assistant/Associate Professor position in English

Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Science and working collaboratively with the Chair of Humanities and English faculty, the individual has a shared responsibility to deliver and strengthen the English program.

Ambrose is open to a wide range of specializations in the literature of the last 250 years, including the Romantics and nineteenth century, Modernism, the Inklings, and the novel. We seek primarily, though, for an exceptional classroom professor eager to teach broadly from “the best that has been thought and said in the world” and keenly interested in literature’s interactions with historic Christian faith.

The English program offers three- and four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees. It is situated within a small but collegial department of Humanities alongside programs in History, Christian Studies, and General Studies. The successful applicant will typically teach a 3-3 load, which will include a Romantics-present survey, introduction to literature, and composition courses, along with senior electives in areas of specialization and broader interest.

Start Date: August 2025
