CFP: Christianity and Literature Study Group (CLSG) Annual Conference (Deadline: Jan. 11, 2021)

To be held virtually May 28-29 2021

The Christianity and Literature Study Group invites proposals for papers any aspect of Christianity and literature for its annual conference, to be held this year on a virtual platform on May 28 and 29. We welcome a range of critical approaches and topics, including pedagogy, multimedia genres, adaptations, and creative writing. Proposals for member-organized panels with alternate formats–roundtables, storytelling, collaborations, workshops–are particularly welcome.

The 2021 Congress, hosted in Edmonton, has the theme of “Northern Relations.”

We are delighted to announce that our 2021 plenary speakers, David Bentley and Daniel Coleman, will be joining us for this virtual meeting and we anticipate two engaging and timely plenary sessions. We also anticipate hosting our regular poetry reading. The online platform has allowed us to change our conference format, with a view to promoting the ongoing dialogue that is always a special blessing in our program, and to allowing our members to attend ACCUTE sessions and events. Accordingly, we are holding a colloquium-style conference featuring a full day and a half dedicated to our own sessions, immediately prior to the ACCUTE program.

Proposals accepted for the London 2020 conference are automatically accepted for the 2021 meeting; however, if a presenter should wish to change their topic, please adhere to the submission dates below.

Member-organized panel proposals

Proposals for member-organized panels should include a panel title, a brief description (1-2 paragraphs), organizer’s name, contact information, and affiliation.

Paper Proposals

All proposers should send a 300-500 word proposal (with no identifying marks in Word or PDF format), a 100 word abstract, a 50 word biographical statement, and proposer’s contact information no later than 11 January 2021.

All CLSG proposals are sent to a minimum of two readers on a blind referee basis, and acceptance is confirmed usually by mid-February.

Note: In order to present a paper at the CLSG meeting, you must be a member in good standing of ACCUTE as well as of the CLSG.

The deadline for all paper proposals is January 11th.

Proposals for general pool papers should be sent to BOTH Katherine Quinsey (kateq@uwindsor.ca) AND Tina Trigg (tina.trigg@kingsu.ca)

We’re also happy to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming conference or CLSG in general through the email addresses above. Please direct any membership-related questions to Tina.

Thank you for your continued support of CLSG.
