CFP for a special issue of English Studies in Canada on “Pedagogies of the Archive”

Significant work has been done in recent years on the changing nature of the archive and of archival research.  Most of this work has tended to focus on the archive as a site for research; less has been done on the archive as a pedagogical resource.  The ongoing transformation of the archive from the analog to the digital has increasingly made site-specific archival materials available anywhere, including the graduate and undergraduate classroom.  This special issue invites papers that discuss new ways of integrating archival research into the classroom.  Possible topics to be explored may include:

 

 

Please submit a 300-400 word proposal (including title, institutional affiliation, and brief biography – maximum 50 words) by August 31, 2018.  Acceptance of proposals will be communicated by September 15, 2018.  Completed articles of 6000-9000 words are expected by May 31, 2019.  Articles will then undergo peer review.
