Congratulations! You’re going to ACCUTE. There are many ways for graduate students to network with one another and get involved at ACCUTE. Here are just a few ideas.
Connect with the Graduate Student Caucus (GSC) Executive
We’re here to help! Whether you need someone to point you in the right direction or want new friends to socialise with during the conference, keep an eye out for us and come say hello.
GSC Executive:
Grad Student Pub Night
We’ll be kicking off the conference with a social night at the Timber’s Lodge Social located on the Keele Campus on Saturday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. EDT Come out and meet your fellow grad students. Oh, did we forget to mention that we’ll have a selection of appetizers available?
Run for a Position on the GSC
Elections are held annually on the final day of the ACCUTE conference. Come to the GSC’s Annual General Meeting to run for a position: President-Elect, Vice President, and Secretary. Details on these positions can be found at Accute.ca. You can also contact us at gsc.accute@gmail.com if you have any questions.
GSC Annual General Meeting
On the final day of the conference (Tuesday, May 30 at 1:30 p.m. EDT) we host our annual general meeting. During the meeting we will have our elections and share the findings for the 2022-23 survey. What is the survey? It’s a summary of current conditions that may be affecting grad students of English across Canada, including pay rates, graduation success rates, and program details. You can read last year’s survey here.
Support Fellow Grad Students
Graduate students comprise approximately 30% of the membership at ACCUTE. Keep an eye on the program and make sure to support one another by attending each other’s presentations.
