Job: Gender & Sexuality Studies – Assistant Professor, University of New Brunswick (Deadline: 1 October 2021)

The Department of English at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton invites applications for a Tenure-Track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence on July 1, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval. 

Candidates should have a completed PhD, or be close to completion, with research and teaching interests in Gender and Sexuality Studies and any period(s) of British literature since 1850; they should have an interest in the intersections of race, class, age, and/or disability with gender and sexuality studies, queer theory, trans studies, and/or feminist theory. Candidates with a record of achievement in colonial/postcolonial literatures, drama production, or creative writing may be given special consideration.

A small, research-intensive department with a reputation for high-quality teaching located on unceded Wolastoqey lands in New Brunswick’s capital city, UNB’s Department of English offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in English literature and creative writing. This position will be integral to a new Gender and Sexuality in Literature stream being introduced this year to our academic PhD and MA programs, and the successful candidate will be expected to help develop and teach a core theory course in this stream as well as British literature courses at all levels.
