Job: English – Assistant Professor, Athabasca University (Deadline: May 14, 2021)

The Centre for Humanities in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Athabasca University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, English, commencing September 1, 2021. The successful candidate will have a PhD in English or literary studies. We are seeking a candidate with both broad knowledge of English literatures and an active or emerging research program of scholarship that critically addresses one or more of the following specific areas: Indigenous literary studies; postcolonial or diaspora studies; critical race and anti-racism studies. The candidate will be expected to develop new courses as determined by their research interests and the needs of the program. The candidate will also coordinate and revise existing courses in the program. Evidence of scholarly output and research productivity and proof of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level are required. Experience in teaching and advising professional, working students and graduate students, and/or in community-responsive research and teaching are considered assets. Familiarity with online systems of course delivery is preferred. All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada and will be verified upon hire.

This is a full-time position located in Alberta; the successful candidate will be expected to work from a home office located anywhere in Alberta.
