Creative Writing (Diversity Faculty Position), Dalhousie University

The Department of English and Creative Writing at Dalhousie University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position in Creative Writing at the rank of Lecturer /Assistant Professor. This position is part of the Dalhousie Diversity Faculty Award program (for more information about the program, please contact Marlo Shinyei, Academic Recruitment Advisor (902-494-2965 or Marlo.Shinyei@dal.ca). Under the terms of this award, the successful candidate must be a writer who self-identifies in at least one of the following designated groups: Aboriginal persons; and persons of African (Black) heritage.

Candidates should have a strong background in creative writing and a demonstrated potential for teaching.  Areas of expertise may include fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and spoken word.  Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and a graduate degree(s) in English and/or Creative Writing.

Established in 1818, Dalhousie is a leading, research-intensive university offering more than 180 degree programs in 11 faculties. It is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and is located in the heart of Halifax, a scenic coastal city and capital of Nova Scotia, which is home to 13  Mi’kmaq First Nations, a deeply rooted historical African Canadian community, and an increasingly diversified population. The Faculty of Arts and Social Science is an interactive body of students, faculty, and staff divided into thirteen departments, many with MA and PhD programs.
